Matthieu Robin est un photographe auteur français basé à Toulouse.
Son travail se situe à la croisée du documentaire et de l'expérimentation. Ses recherches portent sur les transformations du paysage, les héritages environnementaux et les formes de contamination invisibles qui traversent les territoires. À travers des enquêtes de terrain et des protocoles d'altération de l'image, il questionne les limites de la photographie documentaire et la capacité de l'image à rendre visibles des phénomènes imperceptibles.
Diplômé de l'ETPA et lauréat du Grand Prix ETPA Photo 2026, il développe des projets documentaires au long cours consacrés aux transformations environnementales des territoires.
Il développe actuellement Matière brune, une série consacrée aux échouements massifs de sargasses en Martinique, interrogeant les enjeux environnementaux, sanitaires et humains liés à ce phénomène.
Matthieu Robin is a French photographer and visual artist based in Toulouse.
His work lies at the intersection of documentary and experimentation. His research focuses on landscape transformations, environmental legacies, and the invisible forms of contamination that shape territories. Through field investigations and image-alteration protocols, he questions the boundaries of documentary photography and the ability of the image to reveal imperceptible phenomena.
A graduate of ETPA in Toulouse and recipient of the 2026 ETPA Photo Grand Prize, he develops long-term documentary projects focused on environmental transformations of territories.
He is currently working on Matière brune, a series dedicated to the massive seaweed strandings of sargassum in Martinique, exploring the environmental, health, and human issues related to this phenomenon.
